FSU football has had a major shake up with its 2020 recruiting class and it was no accident. Four-star Jeff Sims decommitted after another quarterback was offered.

I just wrote about FSU football and their need to solidify its QB class as it was one area that needs immediate attention.

That’s definitely the case now that four-star QB Jeff Sims decommitted from the Noles Wednesday after meeting with new FSU head coach Mike Norvell Tuesday.

It’s a slightly odd situation as Sims didn’t have anything affiliated with FSU in his Twitter bio, but reinserted he was a FSU commit after speaking with Norvell on the phone.

Norvell then flew to meet Sims in person and the decommitment came the next day. One thing you’ll notice is Sims didn’t post a picture with Norvell the way other FSU commits have when he visited them so I’m not sure exactly what happened at that meeting.

However, about 25 minutes prior to Sims posting his decommitment on Twitter, three-star QB and current USF commit Tate Rodemaker posted he had received an official offer from FSU football.

Thoughts

It seems it could be a mutual parting of ways between FSU and Sims though I’m only speculating here.

Rodemaker is considered the No. 27 ranked pro-style QB in the 2020 class with 24 offers from the likes of Baylor, Virginia Tech, Northwestern, Utah, Pittsburgh, Boston College and several smaller Division I schools.

Jeff Sims was one of the biggest leaders for the TRIBE20 class and was instrumental in a number of players committing.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens with Rodemaker and USF who now also has a new head coach in former Clemson co-offensive coordinator Jeff Scott.

I think it’s pretty much a no-brainer to choose between the two schools and FSU football holds more weight than any of his other offers.

It’s also closer to his home in Valdosta, Georgia, as it’s just an hour and a half drive away. Best of luck to Jeff Sims who repped FSU hard as a commit and seems like a great kid. It’s likely he’ll sign with Georgia Tech as that’s who was pushing for him the hardest as of late.
