Here’s a preview of FSU basketball and their upcoming games scheduled for play during the 2019-20 season.

Sometimes, all you need is a change in the schedule for your fortunes to change – and if you’re the FSU basketball team, nothing would further amplify that statement than going from what could have been the most embarrassing loss in program history one week to looking like a team ready for a deep tournament run the next week.

Head coach Leonard Hamilton saw his team get two wins at home that were not big because they did what they were supposed to and got the wins against inferior foes – but more because they did so using bench players needed after the Seminoles came in looking like a M*A*S*H unit thanks to injuries.

Now, the Seminoles return to action for three games this week that feature two games against teams they could be seeing come tournament time if everything plays out the way that the Noles want. Here’s our recap of the last week’s action and a preview of what’s ahead for the Seminoles.

Last Week Recap

After coming back just the week before against Western Carolina to avoid the upset loss at home, FSU basketball got back into action Wednesday against a Chattanooga team that looked outmanned from the start – and continued to look out manned through the game as the Seminoles, led by 17 points from David Vassell, coasted to the 89-53 win.

On Saturday, the basketball team used the football bye weekend to host the fighting…St. Francis of Pennsylvania team inside the Tucker Center. The Seminoles took a 12 point lead into the break and put things in cruise control the rest of the way as, with a team high 14 points from Wyatt Wilkes, the Noles got a 80-65 win.

Opponent Preview

The Seminoles get back into play in the Emerald Coast Classic with three games this week, starting off Monday night inside the Tucker Center with a game against a 3-3 Chicago State team who has won their last two games after dropping three in a row before that. It’s just the second time the teams have met as the Noles won a “high scoring” 47-42 game in the 2003-04 season.

Starting Friday, the Noles head to Niceville for the grown man games of the tournament with a showdown Friday against a Tennessee Volunteers team that made it to the Sweet 16 last season and has started out 2019 undefeated after getting win number five on the season Monday against Chattanooga.

On Saturday, the Seminoles know they will play a game – they just don’t know who they are playing as they will either play the winner or loser of the game between VCU and Purdue, two teams that made a run in the tournament last season, depending on if they win or lose against the Vols.

Interesting Fact

The FSU basketball team has turned the corner of late and they have a chance to do something for a fifth straight season if they can win all three games this week – as the Seminoles have not had more than one loss in the month of November since the 2014-15 season.
