Here’s a preview of FSU basketball and their upcoming games scheduled for play during the 2019-20 season.

In the first week of the FSU basketball season, the Seminoles looked like a team that could make a deep run in the upcoming tournament that included just a two point loss in the road opener and a thumping later in the week of their hated in-state rival who happened to be ranked No. 6 nationally.

This past week, the Seminoles saw how the other half lives as they were worked to the extreme and avoided an embarrassing home debut loss that might have head coach Leonard Hamilton wondering if this year’s team is even going to make it to the postseason at this point despite them actually winning the game.

Now, the Seminoles get back on the court for two games this week that will do nothing to show them how far they are from being a team ready to make a deep tournament run – but will mostly be about getting FSU basketball back to playing like the team we have been used to seeing for the past decade.

Here’s our recap of the last week’s action and a preview of what’s ahead for the Seminoles.

Last Week Recap

After splitting two road games to open the season with a loss to Pittsburgh and a sixth straight win over the Florida Gators, FSU basketball returned home on Friday for the first of four straight games inside the Tucker Center with a showdown against the always tough…Western Carolina Catamounts.

The first half was a complete embarrassment for the Seminoles as they allowed their visitors to lead by as many as 17 points before the Noles – who shot just 39 percent from the field in the first half – were able to close the deficit to just seven points by halftime.

The second half was a different story as the Seminoles brought talent with them out of the locker room – paced by M.J. Walker and Patrick Williams coming up with 18 points each and Trent Forrest adding 16 – as the Seminoles got the 79-74 win for their first home victory of the season.

Opponent Preview

The Seminoles will play two games this week inside the Tucker Center – starting off the action on Wednesday night in the Emerald Coast Classic against a Chattanooga Mocs team who comes into the game with a 3-1 record that includes two wins last week over Troy and South Alabama.

On Saturday, the Noles will enjoy some action on the court during the football bye week as the Seminoles will take on a Saint Francis Red Flash team comes to town with a 1-3 record entering the week and a game Tuesday night against Delaware.

Interesting Fact

It was extremely important for FSU basketball to get that second half comeback last Friday against Western Carolina – as the Seminoles have lost their home opener just twice in the last two decades.
