Future Without Cam Akers?

Cam Akers will most likely declare for the NFL Draft once the season is over which gave FSU football fans a glimpse of the future Saturday against Alabama State.

They only have one scholarship running back in Khalan Laborn who was the featured running back Saturday with 12 carries for 55 yards and two touchdowns.

His longest run on the day was only 16 yards and I’m still not sold on him being this year’s version of Cam Akers in 2020 as he’s never had more than 17 carries in a college game.

Why didn’t he get more than 12 carries Saturday as he only had 51 carries the entire season coming into Saturday’s game?

We did see a bit more Jordan Travis on the day as he ran the ball four times for 69 yards. What’s concerning is 61 of those yards came on one play.

It’s possible the Noles could find a dual threat quarterback in the graduate transfer market or maybe Jeff Sims could win the job as a true freshmen if he maintains his commitment?

FSU does have four-star running back Lawrance Toafili committed and could bring in another blue chip recruit its 2020 recruiting class.

All in all, there seems to be a lot of questions about the running game in 2020 with an offensive line that likely won’t be much better than this year.
