Players Finally Playing Unselfishly

I think this was the most important thing that came out of the post-game interviews Saturday night. The common theme to the success of the defense was players playing for each other instead of trying to play hero ball.

It seems the FSU defense is finally beginning to understand that all players have to do is play their assignment.

If they do that and win their reps there are plenty of plays to go around. A prime example was Levonta Taylor in the NC State game before he got hurt. He already had six tackles and a tackle for loss prior to the injury.

It was the best he has looked in years. Another example was Amari Gainer who shined in his first start at outside linebacker.

He filled in marvelously for Jaiden Lars-Woodbey and has nine tackles with two sacks. Cyrus Fagan had another big game with 10 total tackles.

NC State tried to negate the FSU defensive line but it was the back seven that had to make most of the plays Saturday night.

The game before that saw Marvin Wilson and the defensive line dominant and make a lot of plays.

The talent has always been there, but players simply playing their assignments with great effort has paid off big time for this FSU defense.
