Senior Dontavious Jackson returns as the most experienced linebacker on the roster and the second leading tackler on the team last season.

He finished the season with 75 tackles, seven tackles for loss, three passes defended and one interception.

Jackson is one of the more vocal leaders on the FSU defense who plays with a lot of passion.

I think he could have an even better year than last season for a couple of reasons:

  • Second year in the defense
  • More 3-4 defense

Jackson should have a better feel regarding his role in the defense in his second year. I think he’ll be able to diagnose plays better and trigger quicker against run plays which is where he excels.

I need to see more splash plays from him when the Noles are in their 3-4 defense look as he shoots the gaps when offensive linemen have to double team Marvin Wilson or Robert Cooper.

I’d expect near 90 tackles which would be a 20 percent increase from the 2018 season.
