Man, there’s a lot to like from Keyshawn Helton’s true freshman season. The lowest rated recruit from the 2018 class didn’t play like it last season.

He had some great plays on offense and special teams while playing much larger than his frame. He had 11 receptions for 176 yards and one touchdown in 2018.

Helton also contributed on special teams with nine returns for 196 yards. He’s consistently been one of the players the coaches have talked about much in the offseason.

Normally I’d push that off as coach speak, but the coaches said the same thing about Brian Burns last season and we saw what type of year he turned in.

Helton is the type of player to excel in a Kendal Briles offense. He’s smart and has the ability to get open with his quickness and smarts about where the holes are in a defense.

I expect Tamorrion Terry to get a lot of attention on the outside while taking the top off the defense. That should give Helton a lot of room to do damage underneath.
