Cam Akers

Cam Akers came to the Noles with a ton of hype as a true freshman and lived up to it by break Dalvin Cook’s FSU rookie rushing record with 1,025 yards.

However, it took him 24 more rushing attempts to do it. One of the most impressive things about Aker’s true freshman season was how he had such production despite the offensive line being shaky and the passing game struggling with a true freshman QB early in the season.

Akers also contributed in the passing game. He had 16 receptions for 116 yards and one touchdown.

The great thing about Aker’s freshman season is a bulk of his production came in conference play.

He had 100 rushing yard games against Miami, Duke and Syracuse while scoring three touchdowns.

I’d imagine Akers would have had an even better season had Deondre Francois not gotten hurt since Francois had more experience in Jimbo Fisher’s offense than James Blackman.

Either way, a great start to his FSU career and hopefully he’ll surpass those numbers in 2019.
