Brian Burns

The true freshman season Brian Burns was simply foreshadowing of things to come for the future first round draft pick of the Carolina Panthers.

Burns burst on the scene in 2016 and was named an All-American by multiple outlets after leading all freshmen with 9.5 sacks which ranked No. 25 in the nation and No. 7 in the ACC.

The most sacks by a FSU freshmen since 1977.

He finished the season with 24 tackles and 10.5 tackles for loss. He had one QB hurry, a forced fumble and a blocked field goal attempt.

Burns had three games with at least two sacks, including a 1.5 sacks in FSU’s 31-13 win over Florida.

I would have had Burns higher on the list had he been more of a complete player as a true freshmen. He was a liability against the run, but caused havoc in obvious passing downs.
