FSU football has been dealing with a perception problem since last year. Is that beginning to change as the season opener approaches?

FSU football opened near touchdown betting favorites against Boise State earlier this year.

The limits to bet on those early lines are small, but it was noticeable the lines moved quickly as bettors put money on the Broncos to cover the spread.

The line got as low at -3.5 for the Noles which means the game was be near a pick’em game if it was a true road game for FSU.

However, the betting line is now at -5 in favor of FSU football according to Bovada. Is the perception of the Noles beginning to change as we get closer?

Practice reports coming out of Tallahassee are mostly positive as they were last year. If you remember, the Noles near touchdown favorites against Virginia Tech in the season opener in 2018.

Of course they went on to embarrass themselves and have the worst season in four decades.

For some reason, things seem to be different this year. The footage coming out of practice is limited, but does seem as though the team is more focused. There seems to be more of a business like approach.

We don’t see as much dancing and the competitive juices seem to be flowing more compared to a year ago. Of course we understand the pedigree Kendal Briles and Randy Clements bring to the offense too.

The flip side could be folk doing more research on Boise State and realizing what they lost from last year’s 10 win team.

There’s no question FSU is the more talented team and it will virtually be a home game for the Noles even though technically it’s a neutral site game in Jacksonville.

How will Boise State handle the heat and humidity while facing the up tempo of a Kendal Briles offense? It’ll be interesting to see what the final betting line is for this game as we approach August 31st.

If I had to bet, I think it’ll go back to near where the line opened earlier this year. If so, that proves the perception of the Noles could be changing.

A win over Boise State would certainly change how folk view the Noles moving forward through the rest of their schedule.
