FSU Football: Ranking top 5 defenses Noles will face in 2019

Florida
Florida hasn’t been known for its defense since the Will Muschamp era ended. However, the Gators turned in a No. 17 finish according to S&P metrics last season.
They allowed 20 ppg and were incredibly lucky when it came to turnovers akin to Miami in the 2017 season. Florida was able to force 26 turnovers, 12 of which were fumble recoveries.
I don’t expect that luck to continue just as it didn’t for Miami in 2018.
Florida returns seven starters on Todd Grantham’s aggressive defense along with other players that got some valuable experience last season.
The Gators were good on standard downs but they were prone to explosive plays at times. They can be run on as they allowed teams to average 4.29 ypr and allowed teams to convert third downs 37.4 percent of the time.
The key to besting the Florida defense taking advantage of Grantham’s lack of discipline and aggressiveness and obviously not turning the ball over.
