Here’s a preview of FSU baseball and their next set of games during the 2019 season.

For the FSU baseball team, the past weekend of action should count for a dozen victories after the Seminoles didn’t just defeat their foes on the field – but also did it while in a showdown with Mother Nature that saw the same person up to bat for nearly a full 24 hour day.

In addition to kicking butt over what was coming out of the skies, the Noles overcome a shocking result in the first game of the series – and now, head coach Mike Martin’s team heads back into non-conference play for the next six games before finishing off the regular season on the road.

But, before FSU baseball can actually leave Dick Howser Stadium for the final scheduled time this season, the Seminoles prepare for five games over a six day period inside of the friendly confides of their home field knowing they need to finish the non-conference slate strong to raise their chances of getting a decent look for the postseason.

More from FSU Baseball

Here’s our preview of this week’s games between the Seminoles and their foes during this week of action.

The Last Time The ‘Noles Took The Field

FSU baseball welcomed the Pitt Panthers to town for a three game set this past weekend – the first time Martin ever faced a former player now coaching another team as Mike Bell brought the team with the worst record in the ACC this season into Tallahassee.

Friday was a game that the Seminoles could have done without as they couldn’t get anything done on offense in route to a 10-0 loss to the Panthers in the opener. On Saturday, the Seminoles started what was supposed to be a double header with a three run homer from Robby Martin and a solo shot from J.C. Flowers.

However, bad weather postponed the game until Sunday with the Noles jumping out in the final day with 10 runs in the seventh and eighth innings to split the series with a 15-6 victory. In a game two that was finally played, the Seminoles fell behind in the fourth inning before scoring 11 unanswered runs and got the series win with a 12-6 victory.

Opponent Preview

Tuesday afternoon, the Seminoles will take part in a high school double header as they will play a pair of seven inning games against a Jacksonville Dolphins team – done in part to make up for a game that was rained out earlier this season. At 25-22 entering the week, JU split their four games last week that included losing two out of three this weekend against Austin Peay.

On Wednesday, the Noles will head down to DeLand for their final non-conference midweek game of the regular season when they face a Stetson team they beat two games earlier this season. At 20-26 on the year, the Hatters lost seven games in a row before taking both their games this weekend against conference leader Florida Gulf Coast.

Interesting Fact

After Jacksonville came into Tallahassee and got a win against FSU baseball earlier this season, the Seminoles went out and made sure to schedule a third game between the teams to avoid some history being made in the final season for the Seminoles under Martin.

If the Seminoles lose one of the games on Tuesday, they will have dropped the season series against the Dolphins for just the third time under Martin – dropping three out of four games during the 1984 season and getting swept in both games during the 2016 season.
