Cam Akers

Cam Akers showed what he’s capable of his freshman season behind a shaky offensive line and a true freshman quarterback at the helm.

He broke Dalvin Cook’s FSU freshman rushing record while rushing for over 1,000 yards. His sophomore campaign was lackluster for a number of reasons, but I don’t think that’ll be the case in 2019.

The Kendal Briles offense is based on a strong rushing attack and lesser talented running backs have put up monster numbers in years past.

Granted, their offensive lines were likely better, but I think James Blackman will be a significant upgrade over Deondre Francois.

That could pay off in a number of ways. Akers was limited last season simply because FSU was always playing from behind so early in games.

If healthy, I expect Akers to break the 1,000 yard barrier easily in 2019 and could be productive enough to gain All-American honors if things fall just right.
