Here’s a preview of FSU basketball and their upcoming games scheduled for play during the 2018-19 season.

For the FSU basketball team, the previous week of action started off like many of them before had – with a win that helped to continue their longest conference winning streak since joining the ACC and had them in the conversation as being one of the hottest teams in the college basketball game.

By the end of the week, the Seminoles were reminded that despite their good traits they still have a ways to go to catch up to the top teams in the conference heading into the final two weeks of the regular season and the conference tournament next month in Charlotte.

Now, the Noles head back to Tallahassee for a pair of games against teams staring up at them in the standings – knowing full well they can’t afford another setback if they want to secure a double bye for the tournament.

Here’s our recap of last week’s game action and a preview of what’s ahead for the Seminoles.

Last Week Recap

The winning ways continued for FSU basketball on Tuesday when the Seminoles traveled to take on the Clemson Tigers, a team they had beaten earlier in the season in Tallahassee. While the Tigers were still in the game for most of the first half, a monster finish gave the Noles a 15-point lead at the break before coasting to a 77-64 win behind a double double from Mifondu Kabengele (19 points and 11 rebounds).

On Saturday, the Seminoles had a chance for another ranked win when they took on No. 8 North Carolina in Chapel Hill. The Tar Heels had a big lead by as many as 13 in the first half before the Noles cut that down to three points at the break. That would be as close as it would get as UNC coasted in the second half for a 77-59 win despite 16 points from David Nichols, which included four three pointers.

Opponent Preview

FSU basketball has a quick turnaround from their first loss in a while when they host Notre Dame on Monday inside the Tucker Center. The Fighting Irish have not been putting up much of a fight of late, coming into the game with a 13-14 record and nine losses in their last 11 games that includes three straight setbacks entering the week.

On Saturday, the N.C. State Wolfpack will be in Tallahassee for their one and only regular season meeting with the Seminoles. At 19-8 on the season, the men from Raleigh have won three of their last four games with the one loss being against Duke last week.

Interesting Fact

While the Seminoles will obviously be hoping to sweep both of their games this week, they will also find themselves rooting hard on Tuesday for the Duke Blue Devils as they take on the Virginia Tech Hokies.

Entering the week, the Hokies have a half game lead over the Seminoles for the fourth spot in the ACC standings – which means that a loss by Tech and two wins from the Seminoles would essentially set up a ‘winner gets the double bye’ game when the two meet in Tallahassee on March 5th.
