Levonta Taylor

Levonta Taylor was the lone five-star recruit to sign in the 2016 recruiting class. He was the No. 7 ranked player overall and the No. 1 ranked cornerback in the nation.

He came onto the scene in as a true freshman and played in 12 games while displaying that five-star potential at times.

His sophomore season and was one of the top cornerbacks in the nation according to Pro Football Focus.

Taylor led all Power 5 cornerbacks with an average of 30.6 snaps in coverage per reception allowed, and ranked No. 1 among ACC cornerbacks with a passer rating of 26.1 when targeted in coverage.

His junior season was not what anyone expected based on how he performed as a sophomore. However, it was reported that Taylor played the first part of the season with a stress fracture in his back. He only played in eight games and shut it down the rest of the season due to the injury.

Taylor hasn’t necessarily disappointed overall, but he hasn’t had the impact one would expect from a player that was ranked No. 7 overall in the nation. He needs to get healthy as the FSU defensive back group could use his talent and experience to be better in 2019.
