Here’s a preview of FSU basketball and their upcoming games scheduled for play during the 2018-19 season.

After a stretch of games that had many FSU basketball fans wondering if the team was even going to qualify for the NIT at one point, the Noles have turned thigns around and quietly become a team who is not just back in the hunt for a top seed in the Atlantic Coast Conference but also back in the conversation for a higher seed in the NCAA tournament.

The Seminoles had just one game last week, but did their job in it to get their third straight win and get back to .500 in the conference. Now, FSU basketball gets back into action with two games this coming week against teams just ahead of them in the standings – with the idea that winning both games could change things even more for the better.

More from FSU Basketball

Here’s our recap of last week’s game action and a preview of what’s ahead for the Seminoles.

Last Week Recap

After getting a sweep of their games the week before, FSU basketball took to the court inside the Tucker Center for the first of two games over a 14 day period against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets – a team who was tied with the Seminoles in the standings entering the game.

If you like offense…well, this game wasn’t for you as the teams went 35 and 30 percent from the field respectively (and even worse from the three point line), but the Seminoles did enough to come out on top with a 59-49 victory. Terance Mann and Mfiondu Kabengele each scored 12 points in the game, but 13 of their combined points came from the free throw line.

Opponent Preview

The action will pick up this week with two games on the slate, starting on Tuesday when the Seminoles travel to Syracuse for their only game this season against the Orange. At 16-6 on the season, Syracuse has won five of their last six games that include a victory last Saturday night against Pittsburgh.

On Saturday, the Noles return to the Tucker Center for their only meeting of the season against the Louisville Cardinals. Also at 16-6 on the season, the men in red had won six games in a row before losing this weekend to North Carolina and will play a ranked Virginia Tech team Monday night.

Interesting Fact

Since both the Orange and Cardinals bolted the Big East for the ACC in 2013 and 2014 respectively, FSU basketball has not had much success against either team. The Seminoles have a 2-4 record against each team as the Noles beat the Orange in double overtime last season while splitting their regular season meetings with Louisville and losing in the ACC tournament.
