Great Game Planner/QB Developer

This isn’t a bash Walt Bell piece I promise. His role at FSU football will be a bit different than the new hire as the new hire is expected to have full control over the offensive and call plays on game day.

Now, Bell wasn’t afford that luxury until late in the season but these two categories seemed to be lacking immensely in 2018.

Deondre Francois looked like a true freshman at times and it was his third year of college football (not counting his injury year in 2017 but he did go through fall camp).

There never was any type of progression in learning the RPO offense Willie Taggart wanted to run at FSU.

I’m sure other coaches (including Coach Taggart) had input into the developing the game plan each week. Injuries on the offensive line impacted those somewhat I’m sure, but it seemed like FSU never found any sort of identity except playing from behind all season.

The new hire needs to be able to reach the QB and help them make progressions as they learn a new offense. He also needs to be able to identify strengths and weaknesses and play to those within the offense.

That’s something that was lacking big time with the Noles in 2018.
