Here’s a preview of FSU basketball and their upcoming games scheduled for play during the 2018-19 season.

While it was a short week for the FSU basketball team in terms of the number of games played, the Seminoles couldn’t have done more work for themselves if they tried by coming up with yet another big win that is going to look pretty good on their resume for the NCAA Tournament should they avoid an implosion this season.

Coming off a close loss to the defending national champions on a neutral site, the Noles didn’t just get an important non-conference win but served notice to the rest of the country that head coach Leonard Hamilton’s team is not going to be going anywhere this season – and now face two more non-conference foes before taking a week off for finals.

More from FSU Basketball

Here’s our recap of last week’s action and a preview of what’s ahead for the Seminoles.

Last Week Recap

After suffering their first defeat of the season in a sloppy game two Sundays ago in Orlando against the Villanova Wildcats, FSU basketball was inside the Tucker Center to take on another ranked foe – this time, the No. 19 Purdue Boilermakers in the annual ACC Big Ten Challenge.

The first half could not have gone more how the Seminoles wanted as they had a 16 point lead at one point and took a 12 point lead into the locker room. The second half was a much different story as Purdue went on a 20-7 run to start the half and led by as many as eight points with under four minutes to go.

The hero of the night would be Trent Forrest. The junior guard from Chipley came up with a steal with 16 seconds left and, following a FSU basketball timeout, nailed the game-winning basket with six seconds to play before coming up with another steal to seal the 73-72 victory.

The cold performance in the second half was one of the reasons the Seminoles shot under 44 percent in the game including under 29 percent from beyond the arc. MJ Walker led the Seminoles with 13 points while four players, including Forrest, chipped in nine points each on the game.

Opponent Preview

On Monday, FSU basketball will play their final home game before finals with a night showdown with the Troy Trojans. The men from Alabama come into the game with a 4-3 record that includes a three game winning streak, with their latest victory coming over Austin Peay on Thursday.

On Saturday, the Seminoles will be in the state of New Jersey when they take on the UConn Huskies in the Never Forget Tribute Classic being played in Newark. Head coach Danny Hurley’s team has a (numbers) record on the season that included a (outcome) against Arizona on Sunday ahead of a game against Lafayette on Wednesday.

Interesting Fact

With wins over ranked LSU and Purdue in their first seven games, FSU basketball has done something that had only been achieved one other time in program history. The 1992-93 Seminoles, who finished the season in the Elite Eight, are the only other team who won two ranked games in their first seven played when that team defeated Iowa State and UMass.
