FSU Basketball Weekly Preview: November 26th-December 2nd
By Jason Parker
Here’s a preview of FSU basketball and their upcoming games scheduled for play during the 2018-19 season.
Don’t look now, but the FSU basketball team is looking like a group of players who could legit have a shot at making a deep run in the ACC and possibly in the NCAA Tournament. Yes, I know that we have said that multiple times before about recent teams, but the last week of action helped the case that maybe Leonard Hamilton and his team have turned the corner.
From a comeback victory over a ranked foe to playing the defending national champs, the Seminoles had quite the weekend in Orlando and now turn their attention to another tournament team from last season as part of a non-conference slate that will do nothing but help FSU basketball if they want to get back to March Madness.

Here’s our recap of last week’s action and a preview of what’s ahead for the Seminoles.
Last Week Recap
The action started at home last Monday when FSU basketball made quick work of Canisius inside the Tucker Center, leading by 15 at the half and rolling in the second half for the 93-61 victory behind 18 points from Mfiondu Kabengele and 12 points each from Terance Mann and MJ Walker.
From there, it was off to Disney World for the holiday weekend as the Noles took part in the Advocare Invitational. The action started on Thursday with an 81-63 victory over UAB and continued the following day against LSU – where a second half comeback and basket by Trent Forrest forced overtime, where Kabengele hit a three that won the game for the Seminoles 79-76.
On Sunday, FSU basketball played the defending national champion Villanova Wildcats in the tournament’s title game. The Seminoles bounced back from an eight point first half deficit to take the lead at the start of the second, but Nova came back and got the 66-60 win to hand FSU their first loss of the year.
Opponent Preview
On Wednesday, the Seminoles will return home and host the Purdue Boilermakers in the annual ACC / Big Ten Challenge. The men from West Lafayette, Indiana come into the game with a 5-1 record that includes a win over Davidson and a loss to ACC member Virginia Tech.
Last season, the Boilermakers got to the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA tournament before being knocked out by Texas Tech following a Big Ten regular season crown and a 30-7 overall record.
Interesting Fact
The Seminoles have not had the best of luck when it comes to playing the Big Ten during the season – with just an 8-11 record all time in this tournament between the conferences. FSU basketball does have a two game winning streak after beating Rutgers last season and Minnesota the year before.
