FSU Football: How ‘Noles offense can learn from Mixed Martial Arts

The MMA Philosophy
I know it’s Willie Taggart’s offense, but since Walt Bell is calling the plays now I think he should have more input as far as how the offense is going to attack defenses.
It’s clear teams know Taggart wants to run the ball first and foremost and have committed to stopping that component.
Since they are still in the earlier stages of implementing the GCO, I think it’s appropriate to go ahead and make these necessary adjustments.
Yes, I understand it’s important to establish the run to set up the pass. I know it’s important to be able to run the ball to kill the clock in the final four minutes of a game.
I’m not naive to the importance of running the ball. However, I think NOT having an identity is much more difficult to prepare for in today’s game.
I think that’s what the RPO game of the GCO is supposed to do, be that MMA component based on what the defense is showing. However, that’s dependent upon having a QB that can make the correct decisions on RPO plays.
Which brings me to something I’ve noticed this season, but particularly in the NC State game.
