Levonta Taylor

The junior and former No. 1 ranked cornerback in the country coming of out of high school was ranked as one of the top 50 players in college football coming into the season.

Taylor got off to a rocky start in the opener against Virginia Tech, giving up a huge touchdown against a larger receiver.

It was a difficult assignment, but it’s a play a player like Taylor should be able to break up and I’m sure he’d admit the same.

He did have a huge interception for touchdown against Samford that sealed the come from behind win.

However, he’s been beaten touchdowns a couple of times this season, notably against Northern Illinois when it looked like he was going to try to jump a route and got beat.

I understand his mentality. The defense needs to make a play because the offense is struggling to score. It makes perfect sense, but things work better when you work as a unit.

Just lock your man up and good things will happen if everyone else plays their assignments. Taylor has done a much better job of that in the past two games and we’ll need to continue to see that improvement in the next six games.
