Miami Lives And Dies With Turnovers

I said it last year and I’m saying it now. The Miami defense is a mirage that lives and dies by getting turnovers.

Miami is (4-4) in its last eight games dating back to last year and here’s the breakdowns when it comes to turnovers.

Four Wins: Defense got 12 turnovers with offense turning it over six times

Four Losses: Offense turned it over nine times with the defense capturing four turnovers

Their turnover luck from last year isn’t sustainable and frankly their defense looked rather ordinary in the games in which they couldn’t generate two or more turnovers.

They gave up 4.77 yards per play last season against a fairly easy schedule and are giving up four yards per play in 2018.

The only real team they played is LSU and they averaged five yards per play and LSU isn’t exactly known for its offensive prowess.

In short, if the FSU offense can avoid multiple turnovers their chances of winning go up exponentially.

Now, they’ve struggled to do with that multiple turnovers in several games, but those problems can be corrected with technique and awareness.
