FSU Alums: Jalen Ramsey ready to face Odell Beckham Jr. in week one
By Kelvin Hunt
Former FSU All-American and NFL All-Pro Jalen Ramsey is in mid-season form with his smack talk.
Jalen Ramsey and the Jacksonville Jaguars will take on the NY Giants in a week one match up that pits one of the best defensive backs in the game against one of the best wide receivers in Odell Beckham Jr.
Ramsey was named one of two All-Pro defensive backs in 2017 along with former FSU defensive back Xavier Rhodes and helped the Jaguars became one of the best pass defenses in he league.
Beckham Jr. missed most of 2017 with injuries but is a three-time Pro Bowler and second team All-Pro twice prior to that.
It’ll be the first time the two have crossed paths in a NFL game but Ramsey let everyone know he’s up for the challenge while speaking with media Tuesday.
Thoughts
All FSU fans know Ramsey isn’t one to back down from a challenge and has done an excellent job against most of the top receivers in the game each season.
He’s helped shut down the likes of DeAndre Hopkins, A.J. Green, Kelvin Benjamin and Larry Fitzgerald. Ramsey was among the league leaders in passes defended and had four interceptions in 2017.
Beckham Jr. had a tremendous 2016 season with 101 receptions on 169 targets for 1,367 yards while starting all 16 games for the first time. He averaged 13.5 ypc and had 10 touchdowns on the season.
The Giants were in the bottom half of the league when it came to passing stats without him in the lineup for much of 2017.
Beckham Jr. rose to the occasion in a 2016 matchup against Josh Norman who was thought to be one of the best cornerbacks in the game at the time(he was overrated).
Who do you think will get the better of this matchup in week one?
