3rd Down Conversions

I hit on this a bit in the previous slide, but I want you to check this stat out. FSU allowed opposing teams to convert third downs 36.18 percent of the time (No. 45).

Harlon Barnett’s defense allowed teams to convert third downs 32.76 percent of the time (No. 18).

Another telling stat was FSU had teams attempt to convert third downs 199 times last season which obviously meant they were allowing more first downs overall.

The Noles allowed 226 first downs last season compared to 202 for Harlon Barnett’s defense at Michigan State.

The Spartans only saw teams attempt to convert third downs 174 times last season. That equates to 13 third downs faced on average per game compared to FSU’s 15 third downs faced on average.
