Willie Taggart is beginning to give players things to work on once spring practice concludes.

Willie Taggart and staff have been hard at work on multiple fronts like recruiting, evaluating and preparing their players for the spring game.

The game will take place Saturday with likely close to 30,000 fans or more in attendance and over 300 former players.

The buzz in Tallahassee and beyond is building with most of the hotels in the area being sold out for what looks to be an awesome atmosphere.

Taggart spoke with the media prior to Wednesday’s practice and hit on a lot of topics that you can watch in the video below. However, one thing that stood out to me I want to talk on is accountability.

Thoughts

Accountability is one of the new buzz words in Tallahassee nowadays, along with “tempo”, “evaluating” and “Do Something from coach Taggart.

I love to hear about the new tempo and slogans from Taggart, but the constant evaluation of the players(which is a form of accountability) is what excites me most.

If you listened to the entire interview you heard Taggart mention they were beginning to give the players things to work on for the upcoming Virginia Tech game on September 3rd.

Taggart and company only have a few more outings with these players and then it’ll be up to the players to put the work in on their own during the summer.

Think of it like a cross-country runner right? If the runner is preparing for a race on September 3rd and doesn’t put in the necessary miles in over the summer their performance is going to be lackluster right?

The same is going to hold true for FSU football. So giving them assignments over summer is going to force them to be accountable when Taggart and others aren’t present.

However, the proof will be in the pudding once fall camp begins because those players who were accountable will rise to the top.
