The FSU women’s basketball team knows they will spend the first weekend of the tournament at home after the bracket was released Monday night.

While the men’s basketball team at FSU found out on Sunday that they were heading back to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season, the women’s team for the Seminoles waited one more day to find out that they will be heading back to March Madness for the sixth straight season and the 13th time in the last 14 campaigns.

Head coach Sue Semrau and her team, which finished third in the ACC this season with a 25-6 record that included a 12-4 record in conference play, will again be hosting the first two rounds of action after the Lady Noles found out they are the third seed in the Albany Region.

FSU will play in the first game of the day Saturday when they take on No. 14 seed Arkansas Little Rock – with the winner of that game taking on the winner of No. 6 South Florida vs. No. 11 Buffalo on Monday night.

If the Lady Noles can hold on to their home court advantage – as they lost just one game this season inside the Tucker Center – they will head from the capital of Florida to the capital of New York the following week. Baring any major upsets, Semrau’s team could see familiar foes as they are in the same region as powers South Carolina and UConn.

FSU managed to stay away from both of the teams who finished ahead of them in the ACC this year, as both Notre Dame and Louisville were given one seeds in opposite regions. The Lady Noles can’t face the Fighting Irish until the Final Four, while they can’t see the Cardinals until the national title game.

Next: Will FSU Men's Basketball ever make another deep NCAA run?

The Lady Noles will be looking to make it to the Sweet 16 for the fourth straight season if they can sweep their Tallahassee games – while three wins gets them to their third Elite Eight in the last four seasons and a four game winning streak sends them to Columbus, Ohio for the first Final Four in program history.
