FSU Football: Superlatives for 2018 recruiting class
By Kelvin Hunt
Most Needed-Robert Cooper
Amari Gainer turned out to be the most important recruit in the class for FSU football and keeping the class together in transition.
The most important recruit was four-star defensive lineman Robert Cooper from Georgia. In a recruiting year where almost all of the top talent signed in the early signing period, FSU had to beat out the likes of Alabama and Georgia for his commitment.
Not to mention Cooper was committed to FSU for eternity, and those types of commitments don’t always come to fruition especially when there’s a coaching change. A lot of credit has to be given to Odell Haggins on this one.
FSU absolutely needed a big time player to anchor the defense and eventually team up with the likes of Marvin Wilson and others.
Elite defensive lineman are a dime a dozen and there aren’t many with the size and ability Cooper brings to the table.
