Here’s a preview of FSU basketball and their upcoming week of games scheduled for play during the 2017-18 basketball season.

It hasn’t been the start to ACC play that the FSU basketball team wanted for this season, losing three of their first five games and winning the other two by one point in the first win and in double overtime during the second one. Needless to say, it wasn’t that easy for the Noles this week when they split their games against Boston College and Virginia Tech.

Now, as the halfway point of the conference slate is near, the Seminoles know this is the time to wake up and turn things around if they want to get back to the NCAA Tournament – with games against one team who ran them out of the gym last season and a longtime rival who handled their business against FSU basketball earlier this season.

Here’s our recap of last week’s action and a preview of this week’s games for the Seminoles.

Last Week Recap

The week started off with some Monday night hoops for the Noles as they traveled to face the Boston College Eagles. Unfortunatly, it seemed like Florida State left their talent back in Tallahassee as they trailed the entire way in this one – trailing by as many as 21 points before coming back to within six points, losing 81-75.

Terance Mann led the Seminoles with 21 points, while the team shot just under 34 percent for the game and under 20 percent from three point land.

On Saturday, the Seminoles traveled to face the Virginia Tech Hokies – leading by as many as 14 points in the second half and holding off a late comeback attempt to get the 91-82 victory, their first conference road win of the season. M.J. Walker came off the bench to drop 24 points, include four buckets from beyond the three-point line.

Opponent Preview

The week starts for FSU basketball on Wednesday, when they return home to face Georgia Tech at 7 p.m. inside the Tucker Center. The Yellow Jackets come into the game with a 10-9 record, losing two games last week to ranked Virginia and North Carolina teams after winning their previous four games

Saturday, the Seminoles welcome the rival Miami Hurricanes to town for a 4 p.m. game. Florida State will be looking to avenge their lost on January 7th to the ‘Canes – a game where Miami held a double digit lead for most of the second half before the Noles staged a minor comeback to make the outcome look respectable.

Interesting Fact

Since the Hurricanes resumed their basketball program for the 1985-86 season, the rivals have met a total of 36 times with 28 of them coming since Miami joined FSU basketball in the ACC. From the first season until the 2011-12 campaign, the Seminoles had a 17-8 advantage in the series – but in the last five seasons and their first game this year, the ‘Canes are 7-4 over the span.
