FSU football could do something it hasn’t done in 40 years, but former players don’t want it to happen.

Can you believe FSU football hasn’t had to actually search for a head coach in over 40 years? That will be the case if Jimbo Fisher decides to leave for Texas A&M.

It’s still up in the air at the point, but the consensus among fans and others seems to be Fisher is likely to leave Tallahassee.

There seems to be too much toxicity between Fisher, FSU administration and fans. It has been reported that FSU recruits haven’t heard from Fisher or any FSU coaches in a while.

Current players haven’t heard anything from Fisher to signal he’s staying beyond Saturday’s game against Louisiana-Monroe.

However, another set of players have been voicing their support for Fisher and would like to see the school do whatever it takes to keep him. Check out these former ‘Noles on Twitter voicing their support:

Thoughts

As I mentioned, I think this thing is too far gone for Jimbo Fisher to return to Tallahassee in 2018. Would FSU administration trust Fisher moving forward, and would it be possible for him to trust him?

Would Fisher have any clout on the recruiting trails, and would recruits and parents trust him given how the last few years have played out in Tallahassee?

FSU lost two commits from the 2018 class Wednesday night and other commits are scheduling official visits elsewhere. Fisher commented Monday at his press conference that this hasn’t affected recruiting, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth.

If Jimbo Fisher leaves, the new FSU head coach will have a lot of work to do on the trails to salvage this recruiting class.
