FSU football may have had a down season on the field, but still saw six players make the All-ACC team.

The ACC Conference announced it’s All-ACC teams Monday and six FSU football players found their way on the list.

That number is down from the 10 players who found their way on the list last season. Here’s a list of where the players were voted:

  • First Team Defense: Derwin James (109 points)
  • Second Team Offense: Alec Eberle (45 points)
  • Second Team Defense: Tarvarus McFadden (59 points)
  • Third Team Offense: Cam Akers (61 points)
  • Third Team Defense: Derrick Nnadi (53 points)
  • Honorable Mention: Ricky Aguayo (46 points)

Thoughts

We have to remember a lot of these voters don’t get to watch all the games, and they surely didn’t watch many FSU games because they were the worst team in the Jimbo Fisher era.

Derwin James making the first team is no surprise since he was a voted by some as the best player in college football in the preseason.

He’s had a year comparable to his freshman season, but hasn’t made as many flashy plays. It’s great to see Alec Eberle on the list after being Honorable Mention last season.

His play improved a lot over last season, and it should have after we found out about the injuries he was playing with in 2016.

Tarvarus McFadden making second team is debatable in my opinion. I think Levonta Taylor had the better year as he had way less passes completed against him.

Cam Akers making third team is amazing considering he’s a true freshman playing running back with hardly any type of reliable passing attack. He has an outside shot of rushing for 1,000 yards this season. He needs 187 yards in the next two games to accomplish that feat.

Derrick Nnadi made himself some money this season and easily could have been second team in my opinion. Ricky Aguayo had a much better year in his sophomore season, but also had less kicking opportunities.

I do feel he was more consistent with his ball striking this season and generally less nervous when he was called to kick a field goal.

There you have it, hopefully FSU football can get back to having double digit players on this list like Clemson next season.
