During his weekly media presser, Jimbo Fisher talked about facing the defending Heisman winner ahead of the matchup with Louisville.

The victory was much needed for the overall confidence of this young FSU football team. Wins go a long way toward giving a team something to play for in the midst of a disappointing season. Coach Fisher has to keep his team focused despite the fact that their playoff chances were pretty much over after week 1. The team’s shown a lot of resiliency over the last month.

Freshman Cam Akers ran for 115 yards against The Blue Devils. It was his second straight 100 yard rushing game. Jimbo is satisfied with the production Akers is giving him. His 42 yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter gave FSU football the lead for good.

In his weekly press conference Jimbo Fisher discussed the offense and defending Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson.

Offense

“We’re getting closer to the team we can be… You’re starting to see it evolve but we have to put points on the board. It’s there, we just have to do that. Close isn’t good enough… We need to score in the 30’s to win not 17.. We have to finish more.”

FSU football is getting better on offense every week. Points should come with more experience.

They’ll need all the points they can get against Louisville this weekend.

Defending Lamar Jackson

“You know what they’re capable of. That guy is the most dynamic player in all of college football. They had a great game last year. They got us.” Fisher said. “He’s like Vick was back in the day. He’s one of those type of athletes that don’t come around so often.”

“Coaches have a tendency to over compliment opponents but there aren’t enough adjectives in the dictionary to properly describe Lamar Jackson.”

Jimbo didn’t avoid the elephant in the room. (the 60 points Louisville hung on his defense). Fisher’s response to how you can stop Jackson: “Sneak 13 guys on the field.”
