Former FSU standout Anquan Boldin calls it a career shortly after signing with the Buffalo Bills.
Longtime NFL wide receiver Anquan Boldin inked a one year deal with the Buffalo Bills a couple of weeks ago. However, after two preseason games he has reportedly told the Buffalo Bills he plans to retire.
The Bills were the fifth NFL team that Boldin has played for in his productive career. He was selected in the second round of the 2003 NFL Draft with the No. 54 overall pick by the Arizona Cardinals.
He played seven seasons in Arizona before being traded to the Baltimore Ravens in 2010 where he won a Super Bowl. Boldin played for three seasons with the Ravens before being traded to the San Francisco 49’ers where he also played for three seasons.
He played his final season with the Detroit Lions in 2016 with incredible production for someone his age.
Here are some notable NFL records Boldin holds:
- Most receptions in rookie season (101)
- Most receiving yards in first career game (217 yards)
- Fastest to record 300, 400 and 500 receptions in career
He also holds franchise records with the Cardinals and Ravens. Buffalo probably signed Boldin because of his production last season coupled with the thought he could mentor some younger receivers on the roster.
However, after two losses in preseason games that saw Boldin with one reception for five yards it was time to call it a career.
BREAKING: Anquan Boldin left the Bills today and has informed them he is retiring, ESPN has learned.

Thoughts
I wish Boldin nothing but happiness in retirement. A three-time Pro Bowler and 2015 NFL Man of the Year. He’s only just two career receptions behind Terrell Owens, and did it in 17 fewer career games. Like the last Twitter comment, he’s a Hall of Famer in my book.
