FSU football is no stranger to putting players in the league.

FSU football holds the record for most players drafted by NFL teams over a three year period. That happened from 2013-15 and the ‘Noles have had a bit of a drop off of players getting drafted.

However, that is about to change with NFL.com writing that the ‘Noles are No. 6 when it comes to NFL caliber talent.

Check it:

"6. Florida StatePlayers to watch: DT Demarcus Christmas, QB Deondre Francois, TE Ryan Izzo, S Derwin James, S Trey Marshall, CB Tarvarus McFadden, WR Nyqwan Murray, NT Derrick Nnadi, RB Jacques Patrick, LB Jacob Pugh, WR Auden Tate, LB Matthew ThomasThe outlook: The Seminoles had just six players drafted over the last two seasons, but keep in mind  that they’ve had 17 players taken inside the first two rounds over the last five drafts. Derwin James and Tarvarus McFadden appear to be the best of FSU’s current group. Derrick Nnadi came back in better shape, which could lead to a big senior season and an elevated draft stock. Keep an eye on redshirt sophomore QB Deondre Francois, who has a big arm and an underrated group of targets to throw to this season."

Thoughts

This list left off defensive end Josh Sweat who will be drafted with a good junior season in 2017.

FSU football is in the second tier of college teams that recruit at an elite level. There’s Alabama and Ohio State in the top tier and then other teams like FSU, USC, Clemson and LSU.

The players they listed would be eligible to be drafted in the upcoming draft, but there are a number of sophomores and freshmen who will likely have their name called in 2019 and 2020.

Those players with pro potential:

  • Landon Dickerson
  • Brian Burns
  • Carlos Becker
  • Kyle Meyers
  • Emmett Rice
  • Keith Gavin
  • Levonta Taylor
  • Cam Akers
  • Khalan Laborn
  • Marvin Wilson
  • Joshua Kaindoh
  • Stanford Samuels
  • Hamsah Nasrildeen
  • Tamorrion Terry
  • Tre McKitty
  • Leonard Warner
  • Zaquandre White

FSU Should Be Higher

So there’s no shortage of pro potential on the FSU football roster. There’s a reason they finished with the No. 4 averaged ranked recruiting class in the nation the past three seasons.

In fact, I’d place FSU in the top five on the list. I think they have more overall talent than both Washington and Clemson. The recruiting rankings reflect it as does the play on the field.

Washington plays in a weak conference and a lot of Clemson’s lack of talent in certain areas was masked by the play of Deshaun Watson the last two seasons.

It’s good to see FSU get recognition even though they haven’t had a ton of players drafted the last two drafts. However, recruits know they can get to the league by coming to play for Jimbo Fisher.

We’re not even mentioning the players that are playing in the NFL who signed as undrafted free agents.
