September 2nd vs. Alabama (in Atlanta)

You better bring some extra strength medication for this game because when the Crimson Tide and Seminoles actually take the field, the expected epic showdown will give some people headaches and others might go crazy for what might be the first ever No. 1 vs. No. 2 game to open a season in the history of the sport.

For FSU football, the question will be how this team will handle playing what has been the dominant program over the last decade in college football. Deondre Francois returns with a year under his belt, but will have to break in both a new starting running back, possibly freshman Cam Akers, to go along with figuring how who will be the number two receiver behind Nyqwan Murray, who showed his promise during the last part of the 2016 season.

The defensive side of the ball looks ready to make up for the early part of last season. Up front, the combination of ends Josh Sweat and Brian Burns along with tackle Derrick Nnadi can give teams fits while veteran linebackers Matthew Thomas, Ro’Derrick Hoskins and Jacbo Pugh provide leadership in the back. In the secondary, the Seminoles might have the best corner-safety tandem in the game with Derwin James returning to play with Tarvarus McFadden.

Prediction: I want FSU football to win this game so badly to show they are going to live up to the hype as a ACC favorite and potential playoff team. By September 2nd, they could do it – but if the game was played right now, the Crimson Tide escape with a close win. Bama 31 Florida State 28
