FSU Football: DeMarcus Walker destroys SEC with one tweet
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football has done extremely well against the SEC Conference. Former FSU All-American DeMarcus Walker says he never lost to a SEC team.
The ACC Media Kickoff began Thursday to discuss the merits of the conference as the college football season draws near.
One discussion centered around the ACC being considered the best conference in college football in 2016.
The ACC went 9-3 against the SEC, won a national title by beating an SEC team, brought home the Heisman Trophy and won the Orange bowl.
FSU football coach Jimbo Fisher chimed in on his thoughts regarding how much the ACC has evolved over the year:
"I think we’ve established ourselves as the premier conference in college football."
It’s not far-fetched when looking at the numbers below either:
Former FSU football All-American defensive end DeMarcus Walker served notice on just how special his time in the ACC conference was:
Of course the SEC was thought to be the premier college football conference much of the last decade. That’s why Walker stated he never lost to the SEC conference during his entire career with FSU football (2013-2016).
He and the ‘Noles defeated the Florida Gators all four years. They defeat the Auburn Tigers in the 2013 national championship game, and defeated the Ole Miss Rebels in the 2016 opening game.
Walker falls into very select company as he never lost to either of FSU’s arch rivals, the Florida Gators (SEC) or the Miami Hurricanes.
I wonder how many players can make this claim?
Next: ACC Has Owned The SEC The Last Three Years
Final Thoughts
As the link says above, the ACC has owned the SEC the last three years. The numbers don’t lie and media finally seems to realize the SEC consists of Alabama and the rest of the teams riding their coattails.
Now, we told you six months ago we expect the ACC to return back to earth in 2017. The conference lost a ton of firepower to the NFL Draft, and several teams will be breaking in new quarterbacks.
However, the conference still has a team in FSU that’s capable of winning a national championship. Clemson, Miami and Louisville will likely win nine or 10 games and teams like N.C State and Virginia Tech could be sneaky good.
