FSU Football: Website says Jimbo Fisher has amazing job security
By Jason Parker
FSU football has been able to keep Jimbo Fisher from jumping ship the last two seasons – and one site says his job is pretty safe in Tallahassee.
While sometimes he catches flack from the fanbase of FSU football, there is no doubt that Jimbo Fisher has done one heck of a job bringing back the Seminoles’ program to national glory during the last seven seasons he has been the head man in Tallahassee.
His resume is one that rivals other top coaches in the game. Over the last seven seasons, Fisher has won 78 games (an average of over 11 each season) to go along with three ACC titles, one national crown and three New Years Six bowl wins. There are coaches in the college game that don’t get those numbers in a career, much less the better part of a decade.
It’s one of the reasons that LSU has been so hot for Fisher, a former offensive coordinator at the school, the last two seasons and why the Seminoles are doing whatever it takes to make sure he stays around as long as legendary head coach Bobby Bowden did.
Fisher isn’t going to have to worry about losing his job, as CBSSports.com ranked him as one of the handful of FBS coaches this season (12 to be exact, or less than 10 percent of the 130 coaches) who are “untouchable”:
"Nick Saban (Alabama)Dabo Swinney (Clemson)Joe Mogila (Coastal Carolina)JIMBO FISHER (Florida State)Bill Snyder (Kansas State)Jim Harbaugh (Michigan)Ken Niumatalolo (Navy)Urban Meyer (Ohio State)Rocky Long (San Diego State)David Shaw (Stanford)Gary Patterson (TCU)Chris Petersen (Washington)"
Fisher has an impressive 6-3 record as head coach of FSU football against coaches on this list, including a win over Harbaugh and the Wolverines in last year’s Orange Bowl to go along with a win over Meyer during his first season in 2010 (when Urban was with those evil Gators) and a 4-3 record against Dabo and Tigers.

He’ll get a chance to add to that list with the opener against Saban and the Crimson Tide (a team he helped defeat in 2007 as the Noles’ offensive coordinator). If the Seminoles can finish the year where they start – in Atlanta playing for the national title – there is a chance the Fisher could have a lifetime contract waiting for him when he comes back to Tallahassee.
