FSU football will open up its 2017 season against Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide. Can the ‘Noles overcome the odds again?

FSU football will take on the Alabama Crimson Tide in their 2017 opener on September 2, 2017.

The game will take place on a neutral field and Alabama opened around -3 or -3.5 betting when lines first began appearing.

The betting line moved up to -4.5 in favor of Alabama a couple of months ago. The line moved again in favor of Bama three weeks ago with the ‘Noles as +5.5 underdogs.

Now, the line has moved again with FSU football a full touchdown underdog against Alabama according to Sportsbook.ag.

Here’s what we wrote nearly a month ago:

"FSU football is one of the few teams that can somewhat match the talent Alabama has on its roster. The betting line could very well get up to a touchdown similar to how it did in the Orange Bowl against Michigan. If Jalen Hurts is Alabama’s quarterback, I like FSU’s chances to cover if not outright win."

I still feel that way. It looks like Deondre Francois has made some improvements since last season, and FSU can force Jalen Hurts to beat them with his arm.

I like that matchup for FSU’s secondary as Hurts hasn’t proved that he can pass against a good defense.

The biggest question will be field position and special teams in my opinion. FSU can’t afford to give Alabama good field position the way they did almost the entire second half against Michigan in the Orange Bowl.

FSU also will have to get touchdowns in the red zone, but the ‘Noles have been among the best in the nation the past couple of seasons in that department.

Will the betting line continue to grow, or will money start backing the ‘Noles the closer we get to September?
