No. 5 – 2011 Champs Sports Bowl (FSU 18 Notre Dame 14)

In Jimbo Fisher’s second season as head coach, the Seminoles took a slight step back with a three game losing streak in late September/early October and a November loss to Virginia that kept them out of a second straight ACC Championship Game. Still, what would take place on December 29, 2011 in Orlando was one for the history books.

After trailing 14-0 midway through the third quarter, FSU football clawed back with two touchdown passes from EJ Manuel in the fourth quarter (one each to Bert Reed and Rashad Green) paced the ‘Noles to a fourth straight bowl win and a second one under Fisher.

While there was no ACC title game appearance or double digit win season like in Fisher’s first season, it was the first time that the Seminoles had defeated Miami, Florida and Notre Dame in the same season. While they aren’t at the hated rival level yet of the first two, games between the Seminoles and Fighting Irish have become hotly contested and just as passionate.
