No. 4 – 2010 Gator Bowl (FSU 33 West Virginia 21)

As the calendar turned to a new decade, the football program at Florida State was one game from a brand new era as long time head coach Bobby Bowden was set to hang up his whistle for good after one final contest.

The 2009 season is considered the final year of what some ‘Nole fans like to call the “lost decade” and FSU headed to Jacksonville on January 1, 2010 with a 6-6 record and were in danger of a losing record for the first time since Bowden’s first season in 1976. For the first half of football, it didn’t look good for the Seminoles as West Virginia took a halftime lead.

In the second half (as the sun finally emerged from an overcast and rainy first half), FSU football came out like a whole new team and dominated on both sides of the football, led by Jermaine Thomas and his 132 yard, two touchdown performance running the ball en route to a 33-21 win over the Mountaineers.

While feelings were mixed in FSU Nation as to the way thing went down regarding Bowden’s departure, for one final day everyone in Garnet and Gold was able to cheer another Seminoles win in a bowl game.
