FSU Football: Quarterback Thoughts Post-Spring Game
By Kelvin Hunt
Malik Henry
Here’s what we wrote immediately after the spring game regarding Malik Henry.
He started off kind of slow, but seemed to find a rhythm out there in the second half. He was poised for the most part and most importantly didn’t turn the ball over at all.
That’s big.
Now, Fisher alluded to Henry still only knowing a small percentage of the playbook which is understandable for a true freshman. He didn’t know all the signals and had to be told the plays verbally, but he was able to make plays out there.
He looked really comfortable on those plays where he rolls out of the pocket to hit targets down field.
Henry still needs to get in the weight room. I’m sure he’s tough as nails, but right now it looks like one hit coming from his blind side would break him in half.
His performance was very promising and he’ll need to dive in to that playbook during the summer if he wants to challenge for the starting job this fall.
