FSU Football: How Good Was 2015 Defense?
By Kelvin Hunt
- DMe: Methodical Drive Rate, the percentage of opponent drives that last at least 10 plays.
FSU Football allowed 12 percent (12.4) of their opponent drives to last at least 10 plays. That’s good for No. 46 nationally.
Again, this supports the notion that the defense played a “bend but not break mentality”.
I wouldn’t consider No. 46 in anything to be elite, and certainly not with the level of athletes FSU had on defense. FSU football allowed teams to convert on third down at nearly 40 percent (39.23). They allowed teams to convert on fourth down at 47.37 percent (9 of 19 opportunities) which is not very good at all.
This will be an area that FSU will need to improve upon in 2016 if they want to compete for an ACC and/or National Championship.
