Ermon Lane– WR, #1
6-3, 206 lb.
Following Dalvin Cook is fellow 5-star recruit Ermon Lane– which may sound familiar to ‘Noles fans. These two very close friends were formerly committed to the Florida Gators. When Cook switched his commitment to FSU just before the Under Armour All-America Game, many thought the same would occur with Lane, and it did when he announced for Florida State on National Signing Day.
Due to his impressive stature, Lane is drawing early comparisons to departed FSU receiver Kelvin Benjamin. But because the latter had only played football for a short time before arriving in Tallahassee, Lane is ahead of where Benjamin was as a freshman. He’s very competitive, and fights for the football, which could help him onto the field early.
Lane’s senior campaign at Homestead Senior High School saw him pull in 31 catches for 605 yards and eight TDs. His 40s are in the low 4.5s, and he catches the ball nicely away from his body, but needs a bit of work thereafter with ball-security skills, like tucking the ball away and switching it to his outside arm.
