Tight Ends-Final Fantasy VII

Jan 1, 2013; Miami Gardens, FL, USA; Florida State Seminoles tight end Nick O

I am an acclaimed Final Fantasy nerd. In fact, it was the first video game franchise that forced me into a position where I would fake illness so I can stay home from school to play. It holds a very, very special spot in my otherwise cold heart.

Unfortunately for Florida State, though, the tight end position is in shambles. Injuries and a transfer has made the depth at the position a serious issue. Hopefully, however, the players still healthy enough to play the position can band together as if they were members of Avalanche.

You know who rides motorcycles in Final Fantasy VII? Cloud, that is who! Granted, Nick O’Leary doesn’t deal with them as well, but the two of them are now forever intertwined inside my cranium. Florida State fans, however, will need O’Leary to far more productive than Cloud was in the first couple of scenes of the video game. I mean, Cloud might have ended up being the hero, but he wasn’t really too pumped to be along for the ride from the get-go.

Florida State is going to need Jeremy Kerr to be ready ASAP. Not like after a few games or after he has had time to adjust, but like now. Much in the same way gamers needed Vincent Valentine as soon as they found him inside the safe of a mansion (you read that right). Hopefully Kerr is already leveled up the same way Valentine was.

Kevin Haplea is Sephiroth because I need a Sephiroth reference for Final Fantasy VII. That is all.

Finally, Giorgio Newberry is making the move from the defensive line to tight end. If we were to be honest with each other — and we should because we are friends — Newberry is enormous. If the NCAA allows it, he can also help the depth at the tight end position by letting him add a gun to his arm. You know, like Barrett.
