Will the committed offensive linemen stay put in the Seminoles' recruiting class?
Florida State football has been the laughing stock in the college football landscape, where they possess a 1-8 record on the year. It has been so disappointing that I have lost track of all the losses. I would rather be a Seminole fan any day than be a fan of the Hurricanes or Gators.
However, this season has been one that needs to be flushed down the toilet at this point.
Florida State head football coach Mike Norvell will have to do a complete reset of the program in his fifth year at the helm. I am not suggesting whether or not he can accomplish the feat of turning this around. However, it all starts with acquiring prospects in the high school ranks.
Norvell has been regarded as one of the best in the business at picking up players via the transfer portal. His hit rate historically in the transfer market has been supremely high. However, that trend has come back down to Earth as the Seminoles are searching for answers.
It will be increasingly difficult with the 2025 recruiting class. How is Norvell supposed to preach that good things will occur next year when the majority of his coaching staff could be on the chopping block?
I believe that it is vital for the Seminoles to continue focusing on recruits in the trenches. Florida State is stacked at acquiring talented offensive linemen this cycle with five-star Solomon Thomas, four-star Peyton Joseph, four-star Mario Nash Jr., and three-star Daniel Pierre Louis.
However, it is fair to suggest that even offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Alex Atkins will stick around in 2025 after his veteran offensive unit underperformed this year.
Four-star Mario Nash Jr's father (Mario Nash Sr.) went on social media to express his confidence in the coaching staff and their ability to get this ship turned in the right direction.
Overall, I understand the frustration of the fan base. We are all upset. This is not the standard at Florida State. I am not here to suggest that Atkins will remain on staff in 2025. However, the continued support of the offensive linemen has me to believe that they will be fine and weather the storm.
