Florida State baseball has won every ACC series thus far and sits near the top of the ACC Standings. The Noles have achieved some impressive wins over several ranked teams, including the No. 4 RPI nationally.

Baseball is a funky sport, and any team can lose on any given day against inferior competition, but for some reason, FSU hasn’t been able to get over the hump against the rival Florida Gators this season.

They lost 6-3 in the first game and got shut out 5-0 in the second game. The pitching hasn’t been terrible, but the offense has been embarrassing against the high-octane arms that Florida sends to the mound.

Florida State needs a win against Florida just from a perception standpoint, but it would be a big win for RPI too.

FSU batters have struck out 34 times in 62 at-bats (54.8 percent) and have only 10 hits (.161 batting average). The Noles will have a chance to salvage the series on Tuesday night when they host the Gators, but it’ll be the first time they’ll face them without Myles Bailey in the lineup, though Bailey was 0-6 with two walks and four strikeouts in the first two games.

If FSU loses the game, it’s not the end of the world, but the offense needs to show some signs of life against guys throwing high-octane. FSU has been nearly untouchable at home this season (16-2), and they’ll likely start Cooper Whited on the mound.

Whited went 3.2 innings and allowed three hits, one earned run, zero walks, and four strikeouts the last time he faced the Gators.

The FSU offense found some ways to manufacture some runs against Virginia on the road to win the series after losing the first game 4-3. Here's to hoping the offense will show up on Tuesday night on ESPN2.
