Malzhan's Abilty To Match His Offense With Personel
Believe it or not, Malzhan has had seasons where his quarterback averaged 40 passing attempts per game while at Tulsa and threw for over 5,000 yards. It comes down to the strengths and weaknesses of the quarterback and the rest of the offense.
If he believes they can line up and run the ball with the running back, he'll do that. If he thinks they need some gadget stuff to keep teams honest, he'll implement jet sweeps, reverses, wild cat, and read option concepts to run the ball.

At the end of the day, Malzahn wants to establish a running game that keeps FSU out of third and long passing situations (like most offensive coordinators) and creates matchups in the passing game when teams try to take away the run.
