Why FSU should hard pass on Boston College's Thomas Castellanos
By Kelvin Hunt
Castellanos Isn't Anything Close to Jordan Travis
I know the bar seems fairly low at the quarterback position, and having a guy who can extend plays with his legs does help offenses and offensive lines. However, Castellanos is not a good quarterback and is nowhere near the level of Jordan Travis.
He has a career completion percentage of 58.6 percent and a turnover machine. He's thrown 19 interceptions and fumbled 11 times (five lost) over the past two seasons.
Castellanos also takes a lot of sacks for a dual-threat QB. He has been sacked 39 times over the past two seasons. His rushing totals have been cut drastically from a year ago. Castellanos rushed for 1,113 yards in 2023 on 215 carries in 13 games, but has only rushed for 194 yards on 93 carries in eight games this season.
Needless to say, teams have adjusted what he likes to do and rendered him ineffective for the most part. He was benched last week, which is why he's planning to enter the transfer portal.
