Well, that is one way to look at it... Mike Norvell highlights the future of roster

Florida State football is currently sitting with a 4-5 record after losing to Clemson on the road by a score of 24-10. The Seminoles are in a rough spot, as some of the fan base doesn't believe in head football coach Mike Norvell.

The program is looking at potentially replacing him. This is not something that I am advocating for, since we support anyone and everyone in the Garnet and Gold. However, the point remains that a 6-16 record in the last 22 games for the Seminoles is not the standard.

Florida State welcome in Virginia Tech, as they don't have a head football coach and are reeling just like the Seminoles. There has to be a time when the program turns it around, right?

FUTURE OF FSU FOOTBALL

The discussion point is centered around head football coach Mike Norvell sticking around until the end of the season or if the Seminoles will cough up his $54 million buyout.

Coach Norvell discussed the future of Florida State football during Monday's press conference with the media, where he made the following statement:

"Next year will be a new team and I think you look at these last couple of signing classes, the guys we're bringing in, I think we've hit. I think we've really put ourselves in a great position for what the future holds in it. I think we're going to be able to bring some guys in this year's class that are going to be able to make a great impact."

This quote probably upsets the fan base because the program has lost five of its last six games, and are probably skeptical of the future of Florida State football. Two things can be true: Florida State has had significant playing time for members of the 2025 recruiting class, but it has been the previous cycles that have likely cost the Seminoles.

Florida State currently ranks as the 14th-best 2026 recruiting class, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. The Seminoles can keep a large portion of the prospects in the fold, but if the season keeps spiraling out of control, who knows what happens?

The Seminoles heavily favored the transfer portal in previous years, so it is refreshing to see Florida State emphasize high school recruiting. Regardless of what happens with the 2026 class, the program will probably have to go back in the portal to get a whole new offensive line and several key pieces on the starting rotations.

This will be a crazy offseason.
