SAFETY

Florida State decided to give assistant coach Patrick Surtain Sr. to guide the defensive backfield with the hiring of Evan Cooper as safeties coach.

Coach Cooper has an opportunity to have two talented starters in redshirt senior Shyheim Brown and redshirt junior Earl Little Jr., who Coach White referred to as "Him". The safety position could be one of the better position groups on the defense.

Those two defensive backs are always being discussed by the fan base. One piece that I wish had a better 2024 campaign is junior Conrad Hussey. I still have flashbacks from the former four-star prospect's bone-crushing hit versus Virginia Tech.

If Little Jr. and Brown are the starters, it should take the pressure off the St. Thomas Aquinas High School standout to perform to elite expectations. I do believe that Hussey should have a bounce-back 2025 season.
