TIME FOR CHANGE?
FSU football wants to move conferences from the ACC to the SEC or the Big Ten. This is understandable because the Seminoles make significantly less than other teams in those conferences, and the league as a whole doesn't get much respect.
That said, I also realize that the mouth-breathing fans from that conference have become increasingly entitled (even to a team like South Carolina, which hasn't done anything on a national note in years).
The buyout is an issue for the Seminoles for this time, but as soon as it hits 2030, it should be manageable for the program to handle.
GREG SANKEY IS ARROGANT
Let's be truthful for a second, the SEC is trying to overrule college football. Don't get me wrong, they are a great league that is top-heavy and has a fan base that truly cares about the sport. With that said, there is no commissioner to monitor the league's Greg Sankey, who will do whatever he can to make his teams profitable.
Sankey made recent comments about scheduling and complaining about the fact that Alabama, South Carolina, and Ole Miss did not make the 12-team College Football Playoff last season. However, we all know that if the Crimson Tide had not lost to one of their mediocre opponents, Vanderbilt and Oklahoma, they would have been in the playoffs.
It comes off as something annoying to hear about Sankey, especially since the new 12-team College Football Playoff "straight seeding" format should benefit the SEC. It should be noted that, as a Seminole fan that I am not used to the fact that a league commissioner is sticking up for its league.
THOUGHTS
Nonetheless, I don't know if I can swallow my pride long enough to be in the SEC. The "SEC! SEC! SEC!" chants are a bit much, I would never cheer for the Florida Gators just because they are in the same conference as my favorite team.
Maybe this is Florida State football's sign to head to the Big Ten instead of the SEC, with all of these comments, if the league wants to have a Florida-based team in their network.
